Sources tell Taylor Twellman that the New England Revolution will get United States international goalkeeper Matt Turner.

The fee for Turner's transfer is $6 million up front, and could be as much as $10 million with add-ons, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions. The Revs will get 10% sell-on percentage if Turner moves.

The upfront fee is less than the $7.5 million Manchester City paid for the transfer of Zack Steffen from the Columbus Crew in 2019.

Turner will stay with the Revs for the start of the MLS regular season in 2022, Twellman said. Turner will have to travel a minimum for the rest of the World Cup qualification. Turner is almost certain to start for the U.S. in Thursday's World Cup qualification game against El Salvador in Columbus, Ohio. You can stream live on the internet.

It has been reported that the Germany international is being eyed by a number of clubs, but it is believed that Leno will remain with the club for the rest of the season.

Turner has enjoyed a number of giant steps in the last several years. He was signed as a free agent by the Revs after a successful trial. He has been a mainstay ever since he took over the starting spot in the middle of last year and has made over 100 league, cup and playoff appearances. He was named the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021, and the MLS All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player.

Turner made 13 appearances for the U.S., all in 2021, and backtopped the U.S. to the Gold Cup title, while winning the Golden Glove award as the tournament's best goalkeeper.
