The decision to shut down Hyper Scape was not seen as a move that would hurt the game in the long run. The announcement can be found on Hyper Scape's website.

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.

Hyper Scape was launched on August 11th, 2020. Despite rocketing to the top of the charts, the game could not hold on to its fans. $10 store coupons were offered to get people to play the free-to-play game. It was very bad.

Hyper Scape was an interesting take on the battle Royale formula, with new features like the last man standing to capture the flag for the last few players in a round. The urban environment and lore of Hyper Scape were very different from the desolate and story-light landscapes of other battle royale games. The last update for the game was in April of 2021.

Amazon Game Studios preceded Hyper Scape.
