You have enough room for 20 to 50 games before you run out of space, thanks to the Oculus Quest 2. There is enough space for you to download a movie for offline viewing, but don't go crazy with that since there isn't a microSD card slot. There are no exclusive features in this version.

Is it better to choose between the 128GB or the 256GB? Both versions have the same library of games. The price of each device is the same as the amount of storage available.

After a brief sales hiatus in August of 2021, the company reintroduced a new product that doubled the amount of storage space to 128GB without changing the price of the original 64GB model. It means that we can recommend the cheapest version of the game to most people.

The price makes it less affordable for most people, but it's still worth considering for those who want future-proof a bit. The original Quest games used to average around 1-2GB in size, so it made sense to spend extra money on the original version. The best games in the 2nd edition of the game are in the range of 8 to 12 gigabytes.

Since the price of the best Oculus Quest 2 accessories can add up quickly, 128GB is still plenty for people that don't plan on having more than 20 to 30 games installed at a time.

The Quest 2 does not support expandable storage. If you want to store a bunch of movies for offline viewing or have all the games installed at the same time, the 256GB model is better for you.

The same features, operating system, and graphics can be found in the same headset. The form factor is the same, so they work with the same Quest 2 face covers or head straps. They are the same color. The price and amount of storage are the same.

In almost any scenario, each headset should perform the same. If you fill your model to above 99% capacity, it could cause issues when saving games. The corrupted save file happened to me when I was playing Jurassic World Aftermath on the original 64GB model.

Like any gaming console, the Oculus Quest 2 uses up a large amount of its storage for required software. It comes pre-installed with a few demos and First Steps, but you can uninstall them if you want. You get a little over 116GB of storage with the 128 gigabyte Quest 2, while the 256 gigabyte Quest 2 has more than enough for games storage.

Most users will only store official games on the device, but you can store custom content on the device. Think about how many games you plan to buy and the average game size for each to figure out how much space you need.

Many of the classics are 2GB and under, with popular games like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, and SUPERHOT only grabbing a small amount of space.

Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is a bit larger than Star Wars: Tales From the galaxy, but newer games with the enhanced graphical power of the Quest 2 tend to be a bit smaller.

If you download DLC or sideload custom content, like Beat Saber songs or any of the DLC song packs, game sizes will grow.

One of the quirks of the operating system is that updates need more space to download and unpack before they are installed, meaning you will have to give up more space as the game progresses. It can be difficult on larger games, which will require you to free up space before updating.

On average, you will be able to fit 30 to 40 games on the 128GB model. If you start running out of room, you can always uninstall games to make room for new ones, but it's not likely that most people will keep more than 30 games on their headsets at a time.

We recommend the 128-gigabyte model due to the fact that a game deleted your save data permanently. A new cloud save system keeps your save data. Even games made before the cloud save system was available are compatible, and retroactively back up any saves located on the quest.

Cloud saves were added to the v35 Quest update in late November, which means you can remove games from the 128GB Quest 2 without fear. You don't have to watch your storage space as closely if you have the 256GB model. You can now safely uninstall games you have already beaten, knowing that you can always redownload them later.

If you plan to download copies of films, TV shows, music, or other multimedia to your Quest 2 so you can watch them in virtual reality, there is a special case. If you want to watch a show or movie in 4K, you will need a lot of space, and the 128 gigabyte Quest 2 will fill up faster than the 512 gigabyte one. Deleting and managing storage for custom content is more difficult.

We are pretty sure that this applies to a niche crowd, as most users will just stream content on the best media apps for the Oculus Quest 2 like YouTube, Prime Video, and Netflix without download. If you plan to download your own content, you should consider the 256GB Quest 2.

Oculus Quest 2 128GB vs. Oculus Quest 2 256GB: 128GB is best for the average gamer

People who are planning on playing a lot of Quest-native games should not have a problem running out of storage. With enough space to comfortably fit at least 30 games at a time, the 128GB Quest 2 is an excellent choice for anyone looking to get the best-priced version of Meta's latest virtual reality headset.

The amount of storage on the Quest 2 won't be a problem for anyone who wants to use it to play PC games, since the game files are stored on your PC. Half-Life: Alyx will not take up a single megabyte on the headset.

Since you will be saving $100 by opting for the less-expensive 128GB Quest 2, you can pick up a few of the best accessories to enhance your headset's comfort and keep the battery lasting longer. If you want a wireless PC virtual reality experience, a great wi-fi 6 router is the most important thing, as Virtual Desktop can deliver a near perfect wireless experience on fast networks and powerful PCs.

The number of people who would be willing to pay $100 more to get double the storage is probably low. If you're a gaming enthusiast who frequently moves between multiple games at a time, or you often return to old games to one-up your best score, the 256GB model could be a good fit for you. If you want to save money, stick to the 128GB model.

Enough space for a bigger library.

The larger storage capacity will allow you to keep more games and media on your device at the same time. It can hold multiple games and large media files, even though it doesn't have a microSD slot.
