A theme park based around the work of legendary Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli will open in Nagakute, Japan on November 1st, according to the company's official account. The plans for the park, which should be confused with the existing Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, were first announced in the year 2017.

The site of the 2005 World's Fair is in the city of Nagakute, which is 90 miles east of Kyoto and 150 miles west of Tokyo. The site for the fair has been used to build a recreation of Satsuki and Mei's house from My Neighbor Totoro, but the new park will expand on this with new attractions based on other films.

The attractions under construction have been shared by the Ghibli account. There are antique shops that are similar to those in Whisper of the Heart, as well as a warehouse with exhibition areas and a theater. Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and Kiki's Delivery Service are some of the areas that will be inspired by.

Nintendo opened a theme park of its own at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka a little over a year ago. I'm having a hard time not imagining myself taking a trip of my own when international holidays become less stress-inducing.
