Les Miles was no longer the coach of the LSU football team when Marr Chase was coming out of high school.

Chase told reporters on Wednesday that Miles told him he couldn't play receiver in high school and he could see him at corner.

The head coach of LSU from 2005 to 2016 was Miles. He had a 114-34 record and a victory over Ohio State in the 2008 national championship game.

After a 2-2 start to the season, the Tigers fired Miles and replaced him with Ed Orgeron.

Chase was rated as a 4-star prospect and the 84th overall recruit in the class. He committed to LSU in February.

Chase was a star on the national-title squad after playing less than a year as a true freshman. He was the nation's best wide receiver with 1,780 yards and 20 touchdown in 14 games.

Chase was selected in the first round of the NFL draft. The 21-year-old is one of the favorites to be named rookies of the year after recording 81 catches, 1,455 yards and 13 touchdown during the regular season.

He became the first rookies to post two 100 yard receiving games in the playoffs.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday at 3 p.m. Time. They haven't played in a Super Bowl since 1988.
