Neil Young fans, this may be your last chance to listen to Heart of Gold.
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the legendary artist is being removed from the streaming service due to the distribution of his popular show, The Joe Rogan Experience.
On January 26th, Young posted an open letter on his website requesting that he be removed from the board of Spotify due to the company's relationship with Joe Rogan.
Young wrote that he was doing this because he believed that the misinformation being spread by them could cause death to those who believed it.
They can have Young or Joe Rogan. Not both.
It appears that Joe Rogan has been chosen. Last year, the streaming platform signed an exclusive $100 million deal with a commentator and comedian.
In a statement provided to Engadget, Spotify defended itself.
Since the start of the Pandemic, the streaming service has removed over 20,000 episodes of the COVID-19 show.
Neil Young has requested the removal of his music before. The artist had issues with the audio quality of his music on the service before finally giving in and allowing it to be played on the service.
According to the report, talks between Young's record label and the streaming service began after he posted the letter.
Neil Young's music is going to be removed from the service in a few hours.
The site reached out to the service for comment.
