Stanley Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a two-year contract.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the two sides came to an agreement as Johnson's third 10-day contract was about to expire. The deal's terms were not made public.

Johnson was signed to a hardship exemption contract amid the Lakers issues with COVID-19 in December and quickly carved out an important role in the rotation. The first-round pick is playing solid defense on the perimeter and is averaging 6.4 points and 2.6 rebound.

When the Detroit Pistons picked Johnson at 8th, they hoped he would be the star, but he never emerged as one.

The Los Angeles native said that he was comfortable with the Lakers because of the comfort of playing near home.

Johnson told reporters last week that he was confident in his work ethic. It is going to be what it is.

I'm from here, so I'm a lot more comfortable here than in other places. Maybe that is it. Maybe it is some home cooking.

Outside of that, I just pray and let it fly.
