Cavs' Shelly Cayette Becomes 1st Black Woman to Hold Title of EVP, COO in NBA

Cayette was promoted to the positions of executive vice president and chief operating officer.

She is the first black woman to be COO of an NBA team.

Cayette said that he would like to see the day when he is not making history. The goal is to do away with the firsts.

She earned a place on the Sports Business Journal's Forty Under 40 list for 2021.

Cayette's COO duties will go beyond the team. She will be in charge of the Cleveland Charge and the NBA 2K League franchise.
