According to the Wall Street Journal, Neil Young's music is going to be removed from the streaming platform.
Young posted an open letter to his management and record label on his website earlier this week, calling out Spotify over what he viewed was dangerous coronaviruses vaccine misinformation by Rogan.
According to Rolling Stone, Young wrote a letter saying that he was doing this because he was concerned that the misinformation being spread by them could cause death. Not both.
The Wall Street Journal said that Young has been in talks with Warner Records. The Wall Street Journal said it would take several hours for the music to be removed. Young's music was still available on the service as of 4 p.m. He had more than 6 million listens a month, according to his artist page.
His label, Warner Records, did not respond to requests for comment.
The Joe Rogan Experience, which is one of the most popular shows on the streaming service, was acquired by the company in 2020.
In the past, Rogan has said that young adults don't need to get the vaccine. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's leading infectious disease expert, called out Rogan.
Young is not the first to call on the platform to update its policies.
270 doctors and health professionals wrote an open letter to the streaming giant asking it to take action against Rogan's show, accusing the company of broadcasting misinformation.
By allowing the propagation of false and societally harmful assertions, Spotify is enabling its hosted media to damage public trust in scientific research and sow doubt in the credibility of data-driven guidance offered by medical professionals.
