Antonio Brown is considering legal action against the team after he was released following his exit from a game against the New York Jets.

Brown, who said he was too injured to play, was cut after he removed his jersey and equipment and walked off the field during the third quarter. The wide receiver was released by the Buccaneers three days later.

Brown and his attorney, Sean Burstyn, discussed the matter this week on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, and they said they will request money for surgery on Brown's injured ankle.

The team is trying to spin the incident into a mental health issue according to Burstyn. The lawyer said a defamation lawsuit against the Bucs is possible.

Brown claimed that the coaching staff pushed him to play despite an ankle injury. He and his attorney said the medical staff gave him Toradol, a short-term pain relief shot that would make it so Brown could not feel the damage to his ankle until he could not play.

In the midst of not being able to play hurt, I was told to get the hell out of here.

The organization denied an injury cover-up. Brown was released on January 6 because he was upset about not being targeted by Brady.

When asked about Brown's interview, the Bucs said they would not comment beyond their statements after the Jets game.

Brown said he was not concerned about getting the ball from Brady.

Tom Brady is my guy. He's the reason I'm on the Bay, so I know I'm going to get the ball.

A four-time All-Pro wide receiver, Brown has a history of controversy. He left multiple teams, including the Raiders, for whom he didn't play a regular season game. A former trainer accused him of sexual harassment. He settled the claim in 2021.
