Los Angeles Lakers beat Brooklyn Nets in Anthony Davis' return from knee injury

6:41 PM ET

Anthony Davis returned to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup against the Brooklyn Nets after missing 17 games with a left knee injury.

He started at center and finished with 8 points, 2 rebound, 4 blocks and 2 assists in the Lakers 106-96 win, which brought them back to.500.

The wind caught up to me after the first few minutes, but I was fine for the rest of the game.

The Lakers had a range they wanted to keep him in, but there was no set minutes level for the All-Star big man. Davis played 25 minutes.

I don't know about the whole minute restriction thing, but I might tell the coach I don't need that.

His return is a boost for a team that has played below expectations and sits seventh in the Western Conference.

He makes our team so much more complete, our length defensively, our ability to really get up in people's faces because we know we got him at the rim or our ability to switch a lot of things because he can literally guard 1-through-5. He is such a dynamic player that he should be off everybody.

Davis hadn't played in a while. In his absence, the Lakers went 3-7.
