Awesome Photo Shows James Webb Space Telescope in Deep Space Home

Relax, fellow space nerds.

Roughly one million miles away from Earth, the James Webb Space Telescope is unfurled and parked.

While we will likely never see it up close and personal again, a remotely-controlled telescope has provided us with one of the first images of the JWST, showing it as a distant dot that is virtually indistinguishable.

You can see the photo for yourself below.

The Virtual Telescope Project 2.0 provides access to two remotely-controlled robotic telescopes in Rome, Italy, which allows for the capture of stunning images.

They were able to cobble together a short video of the photo moving through the blackness of the Lagrange Point 2, if that wasn't enough for you.

Webb’s Future

NASA estimated that the Webb had enough fuel for a decade. Scientists hope that it will provide us with the most detailed images of deep space we have ever seen.

Some experts think it will be able to work for a long time.

You have heard numbers for 20 years. The observatory manager at NASA said in a teleconference that they think it's a good ballpark.

Hopefully, we will have more images from the Webb for a long time to come.
