The Jacksonville Jaguars will take their time in finding a new head coach.
The Jaguars are still talking to multiple candidates, including Matt Eberflus, but they are not close to a deal with anyone at this time.
The Jaguars were one of the first teams in the market for a new head coach after firing Urban Meyer.
At least seven candidates have been brought in for an interview, with a wide net cast in their search. Leftwich, Eberflus, Todd Bowles, Jim Caldwell, Doug Pederson, Kellen Moore and Nathaniel Hackett are some of the people.
There has been speculation that Leftwich is the target in Jacksonville. He has been the offensive coordinator for the past three seasons.
Leftwich played for the Jacksonville franchise from 2003 to 2006 and was drafted seventh overall out of Marshall.
Each of the three seasons Leftwich has been with the team, the team has had a top-three scoring offense.
Despite finishing an abysmal 3-14 in the National Football League in 2021, the head coaching job is one of the most desirable this off-season. Andrew Luck was the most-hyped quarterback prospect in the draft since 2012 at the age of 22.
Jacksonville will have the top pick in the draft, which could be used to add another player.
