You don't want to go down this road, Lamar Jackson. There is nothing at the end of it. Stay away from any road that leads to Antonio Brown.
Brandon Marshall and Chad Johnson sat down with Brown on the new-look I AM ATHLETE. There were clips from the episode where Brown denied having mental health issues. Brown was asked what quarterback he would like to play with in the full episode released on Monday. The answer was released on social media. Jackson used a demon symbol on his quote.
It was a poor choice. If he wants to entertain the idea of Antonio Brown coming to the Baltimore Ravens, he should wink or think. Jackson is open to more than the idea of Brown as a teammate, but also embracing of doing something that others might think is pornographic. Brown's improprieties and indecencies, ranging from not paying for services to allegations of sexual assault, should not be humored with an emoji.
Jackson should be thankful that he plays for a stable organization. There is a reason the Ravens have won two Super Bowls and made the playoffs 13 times since the turn of the millennium, including every season in which Jackson has been healthy. They have good leadership that demands respect. If the Ravens brought in Brown, all of that would be in jeopardy, which is why there is not much chance of that happening.
Brown walked off at three of his last four jobs. He didn't show up for practice the week of the most important game of the season, and was benched. He demanded his release from the Oakland Raiders before Week 1 after a summer of controversy. Brown stripped down to his football pants and was released from the Buccaneers after he got into an altercation with coach Bruce Arians after not wanting to enter a game.
If the Ravens haven't already talked to Jackson about the people he publicly chooses to champion, they should. It's bad enough that he supported Kodak Black to the point where he attended the rapper's guilty plea to assault and battery after being charged with criminal sexual conduct. Jackson's support can be explained by the fact that they are both from the same hometown and have the same age.
A lot of us are rooting for you. You are an exciting player that has taken some unwarranted criticism throughout your career, and it is charming when you say thank you, Ms. Lisa. You were unvaxxed, which cost you time on the field and likely a playoff spot for the Ravens this season, and here you are publicly engaging in the idea of bringing in a menace with some horrible accusations. We don't want to stop rooting for you, but you are making it hard.
