Kwesi Adofo-Mensah favored to be hired as new GM of Minnesota Vikings, sources say

According to sources, the favorite to become the new general manager of the Minnesota Vikings is Kwesi Adofo- Mensah.

The Vikings were expected to interview Adofo- Mensah on Tuesday.

He would succeed Rick Spielman, who was fired after the regular season.

The new GM would have to hire the new head coach.

The Minnesota Vikings interviewed eight head-coaching candidates over the past nine days, including DeMeco Ryans, who was a quality control and inside linebackers coach for the 49ers during the final three seasons that Adofo- Mensah spent with the franchise.

Ryan Poles, the executive director of player personnel for the Chiefs, was expected to meet with the Vikings this week, but he is going to be the new general manager of the Chicago Bears.

After seven seasons as the manager of football research and development for the San Francisco 49ers, Adofo- Mensah was hired as the director of football research and development by the ClevelandBrowns. The 40-year-old holds undergraduate and master's degrees in economics from the two universities, and had several Wall Street ventures as a portfolio manager and commodities trader before he entered the NFL.

Adofo- Mensah was interviewed for the general manager position at Carolina. He also interviewed with the Bears for their GM position.
