Watford are the seventh English team of Roy Hodgson's managerial career

Roy Hodgson has been appointed as the new manager ofWatford.

After leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season, the former England andLiverpool boss returned to the premier league.

The Pozzo family took over the club in 2012 and since then they have had 15 managerial changes.

They are 19th in the league and are two points from safety.

Ray Lewington, who was an assistant for England and Palace, will join as an assistant.

The length of the contract has not been announced.

After Ranieri left to take charge of Ranieri's old club Ranieri's last game in charge was Friday's home defeat by the Canaries.

The first game of the season will be away to bottom of the table team, Burnley.

He has been in football management for 50 years and has managed in eight countries, including Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, and the Finland national sides.

He was in charge of Udinese for a short time before taking over as manager of the Reds in the summer of 2010.

After only six months at the helm of the Baggies, he left to join the Reds.

He left England after a group stage exit from the World Cup in Brazil and a last-16 defeat by Iceland at the 2016 tournament in France.

Crystal Palace were bottom of the table in September of last year, when Roy Hodgson took over as manager, and he spent nearly four years there.

He guided Palace to 11th in the table despite losing his first three games. They finished 12th and 14th twice in his subsequent three seasons, and recorded their best points total in the league since 1992-93.
