If you thought John Stockton’s COVID opinions were wild this summer, wait till you see what he has to say now

John Stockton, exceptional point guard and fringe nutjob

Another public figure has been claimed by internet brain rot. John Stockton is so firm in his stance that he is the most famous face of the college program he grew up in, where his father played football.

The university has a mask mandate and has suspended Stockton's tickets because he won't comply. In an interview with the Spokesman-Review, he confirmed this.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that Stockton is against basic forms of protection. He was in an anti-vax documentary this summer in which he talked about the hours of research that led him to the conclusion that COVID is not that serious of a disease.

He went further into his wild COVID conspiracy than he did last year. He was asked if there was anything else he wanted to say about it.

There have been 100 deaths of professional athletes. He said that at least 20,000 people have died as a result of the vaccine, and that there have been over a million injuries.

He doesn't know that VAERS works. VAERS alone cannot be used to determine if a vaccine is a cause of death or injury, according to the CDC. The only thing a VAERS report can confirm is that a person had an adverse event after getting a vaccine. The data is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable and is subject to biases because it comes from people who self-report adverse reactions.

The Spokesman-Review noted at the end of the interview that many of the statements that he made in the interview are not based in fact.

Is it okay if I act like John Stockton never existed and Magic Johnson is still the NBA's all-time assist leader? I know it would be hypocritical to criticize Stockton for his denials and then deny his basketball career, but I am not saying anything dangerous and I will feel better.

I didn't pick the Utah Jazz in NBA Jam, but seeing them go dark is sad. One of the most glorious eras in the history of sports was the 1990s NBA basketball. NBA Entertainment made outstanding video tapes and the NBA on NBC theme was the soundtrack to a sports game after the Super Bowl. I smile when I think of the occasional fistfight on the court and the shattering of backboards by Shaquille O'neal.

The villain that was needed for that era was Stockton and his shorts. The New York Knicks are still the Knicks even though they enforced their no layup rule a little too hard. The 82-79 game was a lot of fun. The Jazz were the perfect villain. They were in a market that no one outside of their state cared about, they played dirty in an annoying YMCA open gym, and gave us a group of NBA fans to ridicule whenever they claimed that Stockton was the best point guard in the league.

Those of us that were against the Jazz still respected them. We have known for a long time that Karl Malone is a despicable human being that impregnated a 13-year-old while in college, and now John Stockton sounds like a narrator on a Q-anon theme park ride. I will always have Antoine Carr and his shades.

Another brain has been claimed by the internet. It had to be you.
