It’s just not the same without Tom Brady here

Ain’t the same without Tom.

This is not a complaint about the Rams and 49ers playing each other in the playoffs. Both California teams deserve to play in the Super Bowl after the upsets in the Divisional Round.

It should be a good game.

I still believe that Tom Brady is the most overrated quarterback in history. Brady and Jeter are more similar to each other than anyone in either New England or New York would like to admit.

Sorry, it's true.

It was my hope that Brady would fall on his face, that he would be the second coming of Joe Namath on the Rams. He won another Super Bowl and a division title this season.

Brady is out of the playoffs after falling just short in a comeback attempt against the Rams on Sunday. He led the NFL in completions, passing yards, and touchdown, but would he really retire at 44?

That is a conversation. The quarterbacks remaining are Matthew Stafford, Jimmy Garoppolo, Joe Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes.

Where is the heel?

Stafford spent his entire career in Detroit and now has a chance to go to a Super Bowl. Garoppolo has been to a Super Bowl, but is the most unpopular quarterback on a team that has already drafted his replacement. The Bengals have been in three decades. Every week there is at least one play that you have never seen before, or even thought you'd see before.

The full week of hype for Brady vs Garoppolo would have been unbearable if the Bucs had lost on Sunday. Is it possible to actually see it? It could have been either way.

  1. Brady loses to Jimmy freakin’ Garoppolo, and we all laugh about it forever.
  2. Brady wins, sending Garoppolo toward an organization’s exit once again, while advancing to his 11th Super Bowl.

After a few days, the Super Bowl preparation would be unbearable, but it always is. There is a chance that Brady will win the big one again and add to his legend. It doesn't matter if he wins an eighth. Wouldn't you like to see him lose a fourth?

The thing that makes Brady special is his self-awareness, and the reason that you have fun rooting against him is because of that. He had a hype video for the Rams game. He's talking about the possibility of having lost, joking about having Rob Gronkowski eat a memory card, and playing it cool with the knowledge that he has seven rings already. He has seven rings and five Super Bowl Most Valuable Players. He cheated, was caught, and came back and won more. He is going to have fun and know that you are against him.

That is not the same as, say, Rodgers, the loudest silenced man in the world. Rodgers needs to be loved and accepted. Rodgers believes that a woke mob really is after him and that he has been treated unfairly.

We're glad to see Green Bay out of the playoffs and not have to hear from the Pack Quack anymore. If you're not a fan of Los Angeles or San Francisco, the game doesn't have the same amount of heat without Brady. Rodgers is a bad guy. Brady is not nice. We'll miss Brady when he's gone, so it's okay to admit it.
