CDC and State Department Raise Travel Advisory to Several Popular Destinations

The CDC and the State Department recommend against travel to 15 countries and territories due to a rising number of coronaviruses.

The CDC has raised its warning level for Americans to a very high level, and is advising against travel to countries like Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica.

The countries and territories affected by the CDC updates were switched to Level Four: Do Not Travel by the State Department on Monday.

The CDC says Americans shouldn't go to 115 countries and territories, while the State Department warns about 140 countries.

Since December, the U.S. government has advised against travel to more than 50 destinations due to the Omicron variant of coronaviruses.

10 countries and territories have been elevated to Level Three by the CDC, which recommends unvaccinated Americans avoid non-essential travel to them.

In December, the CDC raised its travel warning for the cruise industry from Level 3 to Level 4 and advised people to avoid traveling by cruise ship if they have COVID-19 vaccinations. The WTTC demanded that the government stop singling out the cruise industry.
