The final two figures of the first wave are new characters: Discovery's Michael and Saru. They are the only figures from the Trek era of shows to come from Discovery.
The new figures seem to be very similar to Playmates ‘90s-era Trek figures, albeit with more modernized articulation and slightly larger. When the Star Trek line puttered out after just two releases, Trek fans got burned on more collector-focused action figures. If Playmates wants to remember the ‘90s, it will have to look at Trek's huge collection of characters. Where is my Vedek Bareil action figure?
The first wave of Star Trek Playmates toys will be available online in July of 2022, followed by a second wave in the fall.
