The Kansas City Chiefs' game against the Buffalo Bills was going to be talked about for a long time, but Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was too busy to think about it.
He had a sense of the game's epic nature after he and Josh Allen combined for four touchdown passes in the final six minutes.
"I'll remember this game for the rest of my life, because I was in this moment in this game against that team, to make a play to walk off a game at Arrowhead, I'll remember this game for the rest of my life," he said after his 8-yard
It was special to win a game like this. I think the Super Bowl is the top one for me. To be able to come back a couple of times, get points when we needed to get points, score a touchdown, and get in a field goal range, I'll remember it for the rest of my life.
The Bills and Chiefs combined for 25 points in the final two minutes of the game, the second-most in the Super Bowl era. After five-touchdown passing performances the previous week, Allen and Mahomes both came into the game with the same attitude. The game was the first in which both quarterbacks threw for at least 300 yards and both had at least 50 rushing yards.
The game will be played on Sunday at 3 p.m. CBS. The season is over for the Bills.
Here, in the words of Allen and others involved, is how the final minutes played out to send the teams on their separate paths.
Play.
Rex Ryan and Dan Orlovsky are impressed with the performances of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
The Bills have been in the lead since the first quarter.
The Bills ended their drive with a touchdown pass from Allen to Gabriel Davis.
The score was Bills 29, Chiefs 26.
"I looked at Davis on the sideline and said, 'Hey, you're gonna make the play,'" said Sean McDermott. He made two big-time plays for us down the stretch.
Allen is always going to make a play with the ball in his hand, we have a lot of trust and faith in him. He's the best quarterback in the league and I know he's going to make plays when it's time.
"Tremendous drive", said McDermott. We knew we would have to be very resilient out here with the environment and how good of a team they are.
The first fourth-down conversion with a minute and change was the one I wish you guys could have been in. It was a lot of love. Guys said they loved each other and should do this for each other.
The Chiefs regained the lead in less than a minute.
Patrick and Tyreek Hill celebrate after their 64 yard connection.
What happened was that Mahomes connected with Hill on a 64-yard touchdown pass to complete a five-play, 75-yard drive in 52 seconds.
The score was Chiefs 33, Bills 29.
Hill always has faith that he will score when he steps on the field. The corner was inside of leverage and the safety was very deep when it was two-man coverage. Pat knew when I was going to break. Perfect timing, perfect execution, perfect playcall and the rest is history. I was able to get into the end zone.
They have great speed. A 5-yard catch can turn into a 50-yard run. You saw it. After the second-to-last touchdown by our offense, we went up a little bit and Tyreek took it to the house. They challenge you defensively because of their speed.
Hill was asked if he should have taken a knee before the end zone to leave less time for the Bills to rally. The coach didn't say church mode. Patrick did not say church mode. I'm going to score a touchdown. Why not? I was going to have a crazy touchdown celebration, but Pat stopped me.
"We wanted him to score and we didn't want him to churched." It would have been nicer to have less time on the clock. He was fighting on that. There wasn't going to be any slowing him down. It was a challenge to get there.
Allen connects with Davis for his fourth touchdown pass.
Play.
The Bills couldn't stop the Chiefs on their final drive after Josh Allen's amazing performance.
The Bills scored in six plays to get within seconds of the title game.
The score was Bills 36, Chiefs 33.
When your number's called, you have to make the play. I knew it was going to be a night like that because I know that we have guys like Cole and Stefon that will be getting doubled more often than I would. I was prepared for anything that came my way and I was able to make the most of the plays that were called.
The Chiefs drive 44 yards for a tying FG.
The 49-yard field goal was set up by passes of 19 yards to Hill and 25 yards to Kelce.
The score was Bills 36, Chiefs 36.
It is a common defense in that situation. The defense will try and take away sideline throws to give you more of the middle of the field. They are soft so you can get a head start. I told Mahomes that I was probably not going to run that route. I'm going to run to the open area. He yelled at me at the line of scrimmage. Do it. Do it. I said, "All right, here we go boys." It was just a little backyard football with a couple of seconds left that gave us an opportunity to take the game into overtime.
The first play, we hit Tyreek and he got as much as he could, got down, and then the play toTravis, it was kind of a thing where he wasn't necessarily supposed to do that, but after the timeout, we got a look at what. He got into field goal range after I gave him the ball.
The game is not over when that quarterback is in charge. They executed and that's why they're continuing.
Hill said nobody panicked. The game was over with 13 seconds left. The rest is history after we made plays. We have a great head coach, a great offensive coach, and a great quarterback. We also have the ability to make things happen.
"I don't want to really get into specifics." There are things we talked about and we can execute better if we start with me. I don't want to talk about it right now. I'm very proud of the guys. They made a couple plays down the stretch. I'll just leave it at that.
Allen thinks it's Pat Mahomes on the other side. The coin toss went the way it did, because they made some good plays there at the end. It was an unbelievable play by him when he scored with 13 seconds left.
Butker missed a 50-yarder to the right at the end of the first half. I hit myself on the butt after the missed kick and told myself to stick with the game plan I had in the warm-up. I was able to bounce back from the miss and help with the 49-yarder, which was almost like a practice kick.
The Bills don't get another chance.
Play.
Patrick Mahomes threw a game-winning touchdown pass to Travis Kelce in overtime as the Chiefs beat the Bills.
Allen never gets a chance as the team drives 75 yards in eight plays. The winning touchdown was thrown by Mahomes to Kelce.
The final score was 42, Bills 36.
The overtime play was just a double move off of one of Kelce's favorite routes and that we call quite a bit. He made a big catch on it earlier in the game. He made a great catch after a double move off of that play. That was a great catch. It felt like five minutes when the official kept me right there and said the game was not over. I'm going to good luck getting everybody back.
Kelce knew it was a touchdown. I got control of it and both feet were on the ground.

"We limited them most of the game on those big plays," Hyde said. It just got out of the gate. We take pride in not doing that. It hurts more because we were able to allow them to do that.
It wasn't the way we wanted to end our season. The offense did everything they had to do. We had to make a stop, but weren't able to. It's a tough feeling.
The rules are what they are. If it was the other way around, we'd be celebrating too. At this point, it is what it is. We didn't make enough plays.
It worked out well for us this time. It's kind of stinks that you don't get to see the other guy go, but I'll take the win this time. It hurt me when I played in the January 2019 AFC Championship Game. All you can do is follow the rules and we did that today.
Dion Dawkins thinks the OT rule is the craziest rule in sports. You can fight the whole game, but the game comes down to a coin toss. This isn't Vegas. We are not at the casino table.
Allen said that Pat played well. I have a lot of respect for him and the rest of the team. They made one more play than we did. It came down to that.
