Jackson Arnold was the second quarterback to commit to the Sooners under Venables, who joined Oklahoma as head coach.

Arnold is a player from John H. Guyer High School in Texas. He's the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2023 cycle behind Jaden Rashada.

Venables and Lebby were able to add Nick Evers to the team before the early signing period because Arnold was the first quarterback to commit. After decommiting from Florida, Evers signed with the Sooners.

Spencer Rattler, who transferred to South Carolina, and Caleb Williams, who is in the transfer portal, are no longer with the staff. Venables is trying to get USC quarterback transfer Jaxson Dart, who is considering Ole Miss as well.

There is a chance that he comes back to Oklahoma, but it looks like he will transfer out. USC and Lincoln Riley are two of the programs that are targeting him.

Venables and his staff have filled the void with Gabriel and Evers, getting into the mix for Dart and now adding Arnold for future depth and competition as well.

Oklahoma now has three commitments in the class of 2023, including a Jr. 300 wide receiver and a center.
