Covid travel tests to be axed in England for double vaccinated

The Prime Minister confirmed that people arriving in England from abroad will no longer have to take Covid tests if they have been fully vaccine free.

Boris Johnson said that the country was open to both business and travellers.

He didn't say when the rules would be scrapped, but the ministers will meet later on Monday.

Travelers who are vaccinated need to take a test within two days of arriving.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have followed England's lead, but any changes are for them to make.

The travel and tourism industry is one of the sectors most affected by the coronaviruses.

The research published last week by Airlines UK and Manchester Airports Group said there was scientific evidence for making testing rules a thing of the past for fully-vaccinated travellers.

Covid tests for travellers arriving in the UK should be scrapped according to one of the big testing firms. "As soon as we can drop it, we will be happy," said Simon Worrell, global medical director of Collinson.

John Holland- Kaye, the boss of Heathrow Airport, said earlier this month that the aviation industry will only fully recover when all restrictions are lifted.

The pre-departure test for passengers who have had two doses of vaccine is no longer needed.

Everyone over the age of five in Scotland must take a test within 48 hours.

If they take an LFT and it is positive, they need to take a test to confirm the result.

Travelers who are vaccinated have to fill out and submit an online passenger locator form no more than 48 hours before their arrival.

"Airport testing was only supposed to be a temporary solution to get trade and tourism staggering whilst we build up immunity and we are able to fight the virus by ourselves." We are at that point now.

The link between getting sick and being hospitalized has been broken. We are in a great place, I think.

Boris Johnson said last week that the government was looking at testing for travel. The Health Secretary would announce the outcome of the review in the coming days, he said.

However, they have expressed caution. Dr Stephen Griffin, from the University of Leeds, told the BBC last week that you have a moral responsibility to monitor and to know if you're infectious. It's a good idea to test it.
