Gonzaga suspends John Stockton's men's basketball tickets for failure to follow COVID-19 mask mandate

The Hall of Famer's season tickets have been suspended by the school because he didn't follow the mask mandate.

Chris Standiford, the athletic director at the school, informed the player that his jersey would be retired. The conversation was not pleasant.

"They wanted me to wear a mask to the games and be a public figure, someone a little bit more visible, I stuck out in the crowd a little bit," he said. They were going to have to either ask me to wear a mask or suspend my tickets because of the complaints they received.

In June of last year, a documentary titled "COVID and the Vaccine: Truth, lies and Misconceptions Revealed" was released, in which Stockton made public his views on the vaccine.

Standiford declined to be quoted by the newspaper, instead issuing a statement that said, "We will not speak to specific actions taken with any specific individuals." We will continue to evaluate how we can best mitigate the risks posed by COVID-19 with appropriate measures. The recent decision to suspend concessions is an example of this approach. The health and safety of students, employees and the community is the highest priority for the university.

Before attending a sporting event, you must have proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test. The school became more strict with its mask mandate after suspending concessions at the Athletic Center.

The relationship with the school can be repaired over time, according to the man.

I've been a part of this campus since I was young. I snuck into the gym and sold programs to get into games when I was a small boy. He told the newspaper that it was strained but not broken and that he was sure it would get through.

There are five home games left for top-ranked Gonzaga. When the mask mandate changes, tickets will be reoffered.

From 1980 to 84, he starred at the school. He is the school's all-time leader in steals with 262. He helped the US men's basketball team win two Olympic gold medals, and was a 10-time All-Star, when he was with the Utah Jazz.
