According to Theo Lawson of The Spokesman-Review, the season tickets of John Stockton were suspended after he failed to comply with the school's mask mandates.

"It came down to, they wanted me to wear a mask to the games and be a public figure, someone a little bit more visible, I stuck out in the crowd a little bit," he said. They were going to have to either ask me to wear a mask or they were going to suspend my tickets because of the complaints they received.

The following statement was released by Gonzaga.

The health and safety protocols mandated by the State and the University continue to be implemented and enforced. Basketball games require attendees to wear face masks. We won't speak to specific actions taken by any individual. We will continue to evaluate how we can best mitigate the risks posed by COVID-19 with appropriate measures. The recent decision to suspend concessions is an example of this approach. The health and safety of students, employees and the community is the highest priority for the university.
