The PittsburghSteelers are taking steps to make sure they have a player on their roster for next season.
The restricted free-agent tender worth around $2.5 million will be placed on him by the Steelers, according to Jeremy Fowler.
If he signed elsewhere, the team that signed him would have to give the other team a first-round pick.
The first two seasons of his career were with the Washington Football Team. He was the 15th pick in the draft.
In 16 games for the Football Team, he never established himself as a starter. He had a 3-10-0 record in 13 starts and threw for 2,804 passing yards.
Washington released Haskins after a Week 16 loss. Ron Rivera said in a statement that he believes it benefits both parties that we go our separate ways.

In a now- deleted post, Haskins said he took full responsibility for not meeting the standards of a NFL quarterback and would become a better man because of it.

Taylor Heinicke hadn't appeared in an NFL game in over a year when he was benched for Haskins.
In January of 2021, the Steelers signed Haskins to a one-year contract. He made the team's 53-man roster but never played in a game.
Ben Roethlisberger hasn't officially announced his plans as he prepares for free agency or possibly retirement, but it's widely expected the Steelers will have a new starting quarterback in 2022.
The other quarterbacks on Pittsburgh's roster this season were Haskins and Mason Rudolph. It's worth the risk for the Steelers to see if they can mold his talent into being a viable NFL player, given how young he is and how recently he was a first-round pick.
