Thomas Pieters wins Abu Dhabi Championship by one shot at Yas Links

The first Belgian to win a series event is Thomas Pieters.

-9 R Cabrera Bello (Spa), S Shubhankar (Ind), V Dubiusson (Fra), and T Pieters (Bel)

-7 T Hatton, I Poulter, J Morrison, A Scott, S Jamieson, R McIlroy, and S Lowry were selected.

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship was decided by one shot.

The Belgian golfer carded a level-par 72 to win on 10 under and finish ahead of Spain's Rafa Cabrera Bello and India's Sharma Shubhankar.

France's Victor Dubuisson hit a 69 to finish fourth on eight under.

After the 18th ruined his chance of defending the title, he wants to blow it up.

The Englishman bogeyed the par-five hole in the final round, but closed with a five-under 67 to finish at seven under.

In Friday's windy conditions, Hatton had a double-bogey seven and then signed for a quadruple-bogey nine on Saturday.

He said he would love for a bomb to blow it up.

It's ridiculous that they've moved the tee back. I hit a really good tee shot and I'm still able to get to the front of the green.

I couldn't peg the driver again and still not get there. It would be a better finishing hole if you were rewarded for hitting the fairway.

If we're coming back next year, it would be great if they redesign it. It's a bit of an ask and we may not be back.

Ian Poulter, James Morrison, and Jeff Winther all finished with scores of 70 or more.

After 13 holes, he was eight under, but he bogeyed three of the last five holes.

A bad drive on the 14th cost him a shot after he holed his second shot from 140 yards on the par-four ninth.

He tugged his second way left into the water as he closed with a three-under 69 after hitting the perfect tee shot on the 17th.

It was an eight under par weekend so it was a step in the right direction. It's hard to forget the negatives after three bogeys in the final five holes, but there are more positives.

Scott Jamieson bogeyed four of his first five holes as he dropped back to six under for the tournament after three rounds.

The Irishman, who started the final round one shot off the lead, failed to recover from a triple-bogey seven on the first hole as he also shot a 77 and finished five under.
