The French Open champion beat two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka in straight sets on Sunday to reach the quarterfinals for the third time in four Grand Slam events.

In her two previous trips to the Australian Open, the fourth-seeded woman was knocked out in the second round, but this time she is through to the quarter-finals.

She will play Madison Keys, who was runner-up at the U.S. Open, and reached the semifinals in Australia in 2015.

Keys defeated Badosa 6-3, 6-1 in the first match of the fourth round.

The American, who beat the Australian Open champion in the first round, hit 26 winners and made only 18 unforced errors against Badosa. She won her sixth career title at a tournament last week.

The former No. 1-ranked player from Belarus was the favorite to win the match according to the woman.

She's a champion here. She likes the court. She's been on this court a long time. I have a lot of respect for her. I was preparing for a dream like this, so I was doing everything I could to get this one.

I'm in the quarterfinals.

The 2012 and 2013 champion made 28 unforced errors and lost five service games.

Ash Barty was scheduled to play the opponent who saved two match points and upset Naomi Osaka in the third round.
