Mark Cuban Launches Online Pharmacy, Promises Lowest Prices on Lifesaving Prescriptions

Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has launched an online pharmacy that offers more than 100 life-saving medications at affordable prices.
Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company (MCCPDC) is able to purchase the drugs directly from manufacturers, preventing steep price hikes from being passed on to consumers.
Alex Oshmyansky, CEO of the company, said in the statement that they will do whatever it takes to get affordable pharmaceuticals to patients. There is a problem with the price of potentially life-saving drugs that people depend on. It's important that we help expand access to these medications for those who need them the most.

Mark Cuban talked about why he shouldn't listen to his customers.

The MCCPDC won't be able to process insurance claims because it won't pay spread prices to third-party pharmacy benefit managers. Patients can purchase a wide range of medications at prices often less than what most insurance plans' deductible and copay requirements would total, according to the company.

Leukemia treatment Imatinib, which retails for $9,663 per month, is available for $47 per month, and the ulcerative colitis treatment Mesalamine, which retails for $9 per month, are two notable medications that highlight the "striking savings."

According to a recent Gallup poll, an estimated 18 million U.S. adults are unable to pay for doctor-prescribed medications. The report shows that Americans most in need of prescriptions face the greatest medication insecurity.
Mark Cuban says that the growth of Defi is like the early days of the internet.
