There is a story.

Three studies released Friday offered more evidence that the vaccine works against the omicron variant, at least among people who received booster shots. The papers show that vaccines are less effective against omicron than earlier versions, and that booster doses increase the chance of avoiding symptoms. The first study looked at emergency room and urgent care center visits in 10 states from August to this month. After three doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, vaccine effectiveness was the best. During the omicron wave, protection dropped from 98% to 82%. If six months had passed since the second dose, the protection was lower. The goal of preventing severe disease is stressed by officials. The study found that a third dose was at least 90% effective in preventing hospitalizations for COVID-19 during the delta and omicron periods. The second study focused on the case and death rates in 25 states from April to Christmas. When omicron was taking over, people who were boosted had the highest protection against coronaviruses.

The third study was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The three shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were more effective than unvaccinated people against omicron-related symptoms. The researchers found that there was no significant protection against omicron when measured several months after completion of the original series.
