Matt Rhule is the head coach of the Carolina Panthers, but he's keeping an eye on what happens at the University of Michigan.
If Harbaugh goes back to the NFL, Rhule would be interested in the Michigan head coaching job.
In December, La Canfora reported that Rhule was attracting the attention of many top colleges, including LSU, USC and Oklahoma, before they hired a head coach.
Since the end of the regular season, there has been speculation about Harbaugh returning to the NFL.
Harbaugh is watching and waiting to see if a team with a reasonable ownership and general manager situation is interested in giving him an opportunity to continue his career in the National Football League.

Las Vegas has been frequently mentioned as a possible landing spot for Harbaugh.

If Harbaugh were offered the Raiders head coaching job, people in the Michigan program believe he would take it.
Harbaugh had his best season as Michigan's head coach. He was the leader of the Michigan team that won the Big Ten Championship and the first appearance in the College Football Playoff. He is 61-24 in seven seasons at his alma mater.
Harbaugh had a successful four-year stint as head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. He led them to a 44-19-1 record and three straight appearances in the playoffs.
Rhule was hired by the Carolinas to replace Ron Rivera. He is 10-23 in two seasons with Carolina. In seven seasons as a college head coach, the 46-year-old was 47-43.
