New faces have joined the United States women's national team.

Fourteen players who have less than 12 appearances for the United States are among the players who opened the January camp. The coach is taking a look at the team's next generation as it prepares to qualify for the tournament this summer.

The Washington Spirit of the National Women's Soccer League has a player who won the Golden Boot last season in the form ofAshley Hatch. She has played for the national team.

"I feel like we have the rookies who are new to this environment, but they're not new to the NWSL environment, and that's also a competitive environment." Hatch said that it's not new playing against them and with them.

It's enjoyable. It's very competitive. Everyone's level goes up when we're in this environment.

The fresh talent list includes Trinity Rodman, Naomi Girma, and Sophia Smith, all of whom are under the age of 22. She won the U.S. Soccer Young Player of the Year in 2021. The daughter of a former NBA star is going to be on the national team. The San Diego Wave picked up the No. 1 pick in the NWSL draft, and that was Girma. After her season at Florida State, she won her second straight Hermann Trophy as the nation's top college player.

The most-capped player in camp is Kelley O'Hara. The squad that won the past two World Cup had a 33 year old on it. O'Hara was asked what advice she gives the younger players.

I have always told them to bring their best every day. "This team requires that day in and day out, starting here and staying here, and that's what it's all about," O'Hara said on the conference call. "It's about consistency, and it's about intensity, and it's about trying for excellence.''

Beep! We are back.

The U.S. Soccer WNT posted on January 20, 2022.

The players were welcomed to training in Austin with the beep test, which involves running back and forth between markers with stages marked by beeps. The players performed the test in their U.S. Soccer branded coats because of the cold weather in Texas.

Hatch said that the beep test was the bane of everyone's existence. We didn't have to do the full test. We did the first 15. It's like a warm up to see where we're at. It wasn't great, but at least it was the first 15. I feel like if it was a full test, the puffs would have been off.

Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Christen Press were left off the camp roster. He knows what those players can do. Julie Ertz, who is recovering from a knee injury, is not at camp. The procedure to freeze her embryos was performed on her.
