U.S. Cancels 44 Chinese Airline Flights In Retaliation For China’s Suspension Of Service By U.S. Carriers

The U.S. Department of Transportation is suspending 44 flights from the United States to China by four Chinese airlines in response to Beijing canceling the same number of flights on American carriers.

The DOT said the flights were suspended from January 30 to March 29 on Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines.

If Beijing suspends more flights, the department is prepared to reverse its decision.
In the first few weeks of January, Beijing canceled 44 flights on American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines due to travelers testing positive for Covid-19 after entering the country.
