Timothy Weah, one of the best players for the U.S. team, was a question mark because of an injury he suffered in December, but he was included after returning to action this week.

The options in the middle of the field include projected starters, as well as Luca De la Torre, who has seen his profile rise recently through strong play with Heracles in the Dutch Eredivisie. Berhalter told reporters on Friday that Venezia's Gianluca Busio was dropped from the roster after testing positive for carbon dioxide.

Notable exclusions include VfL Wolfsburg center back John Brooks. Just minutes after the U.S. roster was released, Sargent scored his first two goals in the premier league.

Berhalter said there's nothing beyond form with Brooks. He has the chance to play a role with us in the future. We decided that he wouldn't be the best fit for this particular window based on how we were looking at the games and the strengths of our opponent. We hope that he regains his form for Wolfsburg and they start winning games and moving themselves up the table and he's a key part of that.

Giovanni Reyna, who recently returned to training in Germany after a injury, is unavailable.

It was a difficult decision in the end. The best thing for him to do is to stay at Dortmund, train and try to get into their squad.

On the surface, the roster looks light on left backs, however Berhalter said he felt comfortable using Barcelona's Sergino Dest, Galatasaray's DeAndre Yedlin or Boavista. Had they been included, Royal Antwerp's Sam Vines and Scally could have added more depth to the left side.

Sean Johnson (New York City FC; 9/0), Gabriel Slonina (Chicago Fire; 0/0), and Matt Turner (New England Revolution; 13/0) are the goalies.

Reggie Cannon (Boavista/POR; 22/1), Sergino Dest ( Barcelona/ESP; 15/2), Mark McKenzie (Genk/BEL; 8/0), and Chris Richards (Hoffenheim/GER; 1/0) are DEFENDERS.

The players are Kellyn Acosta, Tyler Adams, Luca De la Torre, Sebastian Lletget, and Weston McKennie.

The forwards are as follows: Paul Arriola (DC United; 42/8), Jesus Ferreira (FC Dallas; 5/2), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders; 40/10), Christian Pulisic (Chelsea/ENG; 42/17), Timothy.
