Nick Bosa, the San Francisco 49ers defensive end, seemed to be on track to play in Saturday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

On Friday, the Niners announced that Bosa has cleared concussion protocol and no longer has an injury designation heading into the game with Green Bay.

Given his importance to San Francisco's defense, Bosa will play against the Packers. Bosa led the 49ers in sacks with 15 and added 21 tackles for loss and 52 tackles.

Multiple Niners players and coaches expressed cautious optimism that Bosa would be ready to go.

DeMeco Ryans said that he had come along well going through the protocol. Definitely need him out there.

On Friday, Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said it was looking good for Bosa to clear the final steps of the protocol.

Bosa had a scary collision with Jones in the second quarter of last week's win against the Dallas Cowboys. Jones hit Bosa in the head with his knee as they tackled the Cowboys quarterback.

The first signs that Bosa was going to return were when he practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday and Thursday. Bosa participated in the team's Friday practice at Bay Port High School.

The 49ers elevated Dennard and Nzeocha from the practice squad to the active roster on Friday afternoon, as well as announcing that Bosa cleared concussion protocol.
