According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Ben McAdoo is expected to be the new offensive coach of the Carolinas.
There aren't expected to be any issues with the contract between the Carolinas and McAdoo, according to Rapoport.
Matt Rhule's OC, Joe Brady, was fired less than two years into his tenure in Carolina.
The head coach of the Giants for two years, the 44-year-old McAdoo is best known for that. In his first season, New York went 11-5 and reached the playoffs, but the team fired him the following season with a 2-10 record.
Tom Coughlin promoted McAdoo to head coach after he was the Giants offensive coordinator.
In his first season as OC, the offense ranked 10th in yardage and 13th in scoring and improved to eighth in total offense and sixth in scoring.
Before his time with the Giants, he was with the New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers, as well as the Green Bay Packers, where he was quarterbacks coach.
After getting fired by the Giants, Ben McAdoo took a couple of years away from coaching, but he was a consultant for the Dallas Cowboys this season.
Rhule has a 10-23 record in two seasons as head coach.
Carolina's offense ranked 21st in yardage and 24th in scoring in 2020 but has ranked 30th in total offense and 29th in scoring this season.
A lack of answers at the quarterback may be the bigger problem.
Teddy was the starter in 2020. Sam Darnold faded and got injured, which led to time under center for P.J. Walker and CamNewton.
Over the past two seasons, star running back Christian McCaffrey has missed a lot of games because of injury.
If Rhule doesn't return in 2022, the ability of McAdoo to get the offense going could be a big factor.
