Read the never-issued Trump order that would have seized voting machines

It is not clear who wrote the document. The draft executive order is in line with the proposals that Sidney Powell made to the president. Powell, Flynn, Newman, and Byrne met with Trump in the Oval Office.

According to the report, Powell urged Trump to seize voting machines and appoint a special counsel to investigate the election.

The last of the documents that Trump's lawyers tried to keep under wraps was received by the House's select committee on January 6.

The executive order was drafted.

The weeks between Election Day and the Capitol attack could have been even more chaotic according to the draft executive order. Conspiracy theories about election fraud in Georgia and Michigan are included.

The defense secretary can collect, retain and analyze all machines, equipment, electronically stored information, and material records required for retention under a U.S. law. The lawsuit was filed against the Georgia Secretary of State.

The defense secretary was given 60 days to write an assessment of the 2020 election. It's possible that it was a ploy to keep Trump in power until mid-February of 2021.

The full text of the executive order can be found here.

The Constitution and Executive Order 12333, a well-known order governing the intelligence community, are some of the steps that Trump would take. The National Security Presidential Memoranda 13 and 21 are classified.

The existence of the first and second memos is known, but they have not been previously reported. The Pentagon has offensive cyber operations. According to a person with knowledge of the memos, 21 makes small adjustments to 13 and the two documents are viewed within the executive branch as a pair.

The person told POLITICO that the author of the draft executive order knew about the existence of Memorandum 21.

The order greenlit the appointment of a Special Counsel to oversee this operation and institute all criminal and civil proceedings as appropriate based on the evidence collected and provided all resources necessary to carry out her duties consistent with federal laws and the Constitution.

The forensic report of the Antrim County, Michigan voting machines are included in the draft order. According to the Washington Post, Russ Ramsland confused precinct in Minnesota for those in Michigan in the report. Michigan's secretary of state released a report debunking election conspiracy theories and concluding that there were no security breeches in the November 2020 election.

Liza Goitein, co-director of the liberty and national security program at the nonprofit Brennan Center for Justice, said that the draft order represents an abuse of emergency powers. The basic finding of an 'unusual and extraordinary threat' that would be necessary to initiate any action under federal emergency powers law is not made in the order. It is the legal equivalent of a kid scrawling on the wall with crayons.

The draft comments.

The document labeled "Remarks on National Healing" is in the possession of the select panel. Its tone is very different to the one Trump used when discussing the insurrection.

I would like to begin today by addressing the heinous attack that took place yesterday at the United States Capitol. I was horrified by the violence, lawlessness and chaos. The National Guard and federal law enforcement were immediately deployed to secure the building. America is a nation of law and order.

The National Guard may not have been ordered by Trump to head to the Capitol. Chris Miller, Trump's defense secretary at the time of the riot, testified under oath that the president never ordered him to deploy.

The draft document continued to be criticized for the attack.

The seat of American Democracy has been degraded by the demonstrators who entered the Capitol. The Department of Justice will be directed to ensure all lawbreakers are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The document begins with a direct communication to the rioters. I want to make it very clear that you do not represent me. You don't represent our movement. You don't represent our country. You should be in jail if you broke the law.

If Trump had said it, it would have been much harsher than the way he described the rioters after the siege. In a video released during the attack, Trump sympathized with the mob.

Trump said that they had to have peace. Go home. We love you. You are very special. You can see how bad others are treated. I know how you feel.

The Oval Office address that Trump delivered several days after the attack was similar to the one that was written. Trump condemned the violence at the Capitol and called for the perpetrators to be held accountable.

A Trump spokesman wouldn't comment on the story.

Reality vs. draft.

After an intense election, the draft remarks describe emotions running high. tempers must be cooled and calm restored.

Trump pursued every legal avenue to contest the election results, and still urges election reform so voters could be confident about future contests, according to the remarks.

Congress has certified the results of this election. The election fight is over. On January 20th, a new administration will be inaugurated. Ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power is now my focus. The moment calls for healing and reconciliation.

The recent characterization of the attack has deviated wildly from the sentiment in the draft remarks. The former president described the 2020 election as the insurrection and the Jan. 6, 2021, as the protest. Ashli Babbitt, a rioter who entered the Capitol and was shot and killed by a police officer, has been praised by him.

The draft remarks strike a unifying tone in discussing the coronaviruses that is different from Trump's approach at the time.

Millions of people were isolated in their homes, the economy was damaged and many victims were claimed. Along with renewed emphasis on patriotism, faith and community, it will require all of us to work together to end the pandemic and rebuild the economy.

The sacred bonds of love and loyalty that bind us together as one national family must be renewed.

While Trump has courted the disapproval of some in his own base by publicly sharing that he has received a booster shot against Covid, he has mostly emphasized the success of vaccines as his own personal victory.

Trump said last month that he came up with a vaccine. All are very, very good.
