Elizabeth Warren Says Elon Musk Launches Personal Attacks On Her, Rather Than Actually Discussing the Tax System

Elizabeth Warren said that Musk prefers to make things personal rather than engage in criticisms of how much tax he pays.

Warren made comments during an interview. Host Kara Swisher asked her about a December exchange in which Warren said Musk should pay taxes.

When I was a kid, my friend's angry mom would randomly yell at everyone for no reason.
"Senator Karen, please don't call the manager on me," he said.

Warren told Swisher that he was hoping for a personal insult.

She said that it was about trying to make it personal instead of talking about what was wrong with the tax system.

Warren told Swisher that Musk didn't pay federal income taxes.
Every nurse who paid taxes, every firefighter who paid taxes, paid more than Musk. She said that the taxation system was broken.

Musk is due to pay billions of dollars in income tax. In December, the CEO said he would pay over $11 billion in taxes.

Warren sold off a large swathe of his stock in 2021.

Warren told Swisher that most people in America would be a little richer today or a lot richer today if they had not to pay federal income taxes. I don't think that he will pay taxes this year because he chose to sell off a portion of his business, but that's what he's in this position for.

Swisher asked Warren why she thinks tech leaders don't like her and that she's a stern teacher.
I assume it's the same as anyone who doesn't like someone who challenges them. They look for a vulnerability. Warren said that they think that's his vulnerability.

I don't know. I don't worry a lot about it. She said she is not a thin-skinned billionaire.
