Showstopper alert: 'The Great British Bake Off' is being made into a stage musical

The Great British Baking Show is being turned into a musical.

The world premiere of Great British Bake Off: The Musical will take place this summer at the Everyman Theatre. The comedy follows eight amateur bakers who attempt to impress the judges with their cooking skills.

The score for the production was written by Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary.

The production was developed in association with the executive producer of the TV show and the company that produces The Great British Bake Off.

The show is described as a "great big slice of musical heaven" in the synopsis.

The synopsis says that you can follow the trials and tribulations of our bakers, all with their own stories to tell and as unique from one another as their marvellous baked creations. Find out who will win as Star Baker and who will fall down. This brand-new and original British musical is suitable for the whole family.

It's not yet known whether any of the real bakers or judges from the show will make an appearance.

The Great British Bake Off: The Musical opens at the Everyman Theatre on July 22. The theatre website has tickets available.
