Apple is fixing the dangerous Safari bug that can leak your history

Remember the horrible, awful, no good bug that exposed your browser history and account details? The world will have to wait a little while for Apple to fix it.

The issue has been fixed in the RC versions of Apple's mobile and desktop operating systems.

The vulnerability can be exploited in the real world and was discovered by a cybersecurity company. 9to5Mac has tested the new versions of the two operating systems and they don't seem to be vulnerable anymore, indicating that Apple has patched the bug.

The bug allowed a malicious website to steal a user's browser history and other account details without user intervention, just by the act of browsing such a website. The issue was not fully mitigated by using Private Mode. You can get an explanation of how it works.

The fix is not widely available. Release Candidate versions of software are usually only released to developers. It will take a couple of days for them to be widely available.
