Wordle is a free word game that everyone is playing.

Wordle has become popular because we are all looking for something to distract us from the chaos. It requires players to guess a new five-letter word every day, in six tries or less, and everyone gets the same word. The gray, green, and yellow square patterns are shared on the social networking site, which show how they performed on the Wordle without giving away the solution.
Josh Wardle, the creator of Wordle, created the game as a gift for his partner Palak Shah, who loves word games and crossword puzzles, according to a New York Times profile. Wardle wanted to create a new game that Shah would like, and the pair got into the NYT Spelling Bee and daily crossword games in 2020. The perceived scarcity of the game leaves the player wanting more.
Where do I find Wordle?
There is no official app for the game because it is web-based. You can play Wordle using a mobile or desktop browser. You have until midnight to guess when the word changes. I usually start a game, leave the browser tab open, and come back later as I try to figure out the correct word.
What do I do to play Wordle?
Everyone has a different approach to the first blank grid of squares. When choosing a word that has a lot of vowels, it's a good idea to rule out the various vowels in order to narrow it down. Hit "enter" when you type in your word.
The letters that are in the correct spot will turn green, the letters that are in the wrong spot will be yellow, and the letters not in the word will be gray. If you get a green or yellow letter in a word more than once, there is a chance that there is another green or yellow letter somewhere else in the word. The game won't allow fake words, so if you try to enter the game, you'll get a message saying "Not in word list"
The keyboard shows the letters that are not in the word in dark gray or black, and the ones that are in the word in light gray. You will know you have won when the letters turn green.

It looks like there are no E's in today's Wordle.

What are the squares people are sharing?
Wardle didn't create a sharing component for the game, but after seeing users sharing their results using green, yellow, and black square emojis, he added a share button that lets you copy your results once you've completed the game. I got two correct letters in the right spots on the second guess, and guessed the word correctly on the third try, but I was completely wrong on the first entry.

I need to know anything else.
You can use the gear symbol in the upper right corner to turn on the dark mode. If you feel lucky, you can also use the hard mode, which requires you to include any hints in the next word. I would have to include the R, the T, and the O in my third guess if I wanted to see RADIO.
It can be difficult for people with low vision to use screen readers online. Cariad created a way to make your results accessible. You can get a text description of how you did if you paste the results from the Wordle site into the translator. Here is today's description.

Since we are on the internet, Wordle's grids have been meme-ified, and many brands have tried to get in on the game's popularity. Wardle told the BBC that he doesn't plan to include ads on the game and that he isn't collecting or doing anything that would be suspicious with anyone's data. A nice thing on the internet? We deserve it.
