Mark Boucher: South Africa head coach charged with gross misconduct over racism claims

South Africa has had a head coach since December.

South Africa's head coach Mark Boucher has been charged with gross misconduct by the sport's national governing body.

A number of Cricket South Africa employees were implicated in "tentative findings" by the Social Justice and Nation Building commission last month.

CSA said that national team head coach Guy Boucher would meet the chair of the hearing on 26 January to "determine a timetable for proceedings".

A number of black players testified that they had been victims of discrimination while on the national team.

He admitted playing a part in joining his team-mates in singing songs and using nicknames that caused offence and has since apologized.

The CSA said in a statement that the independent inquiry needs to test all allegations before any question of sanction can arise.

Paul Adams told the commission that a racial slur was used in a team song.

In a written submission to the commission, Boucher apologized for his actions.

Boucher's explanation lacked sensitivity and understanding of South Africa's racist history.
