According to sources, Lonzo Ball may need a procedure on his left knee this week, and a decision is expected to come this week.

Sources said the scope would sideline Ball for four to six weeks.

The Bulls and Ball's agent are discussing options with doctors, but the procedure looms if a recent change in non surgical treatment won't allow Ball to play through a small tear in his knee.

The Bulls initially thought Ball had a bone bruise. The team had already ruled him out for the upcoming three-game road trip because his knee was not recovering well from the initial treatment.

Bulls coach Billy Donovan said on Wednesday night that Ball had changed treatments on his knee and that doctors were waiting to see how he responded to the new treatment.

"We haven't gotten to that point yet, so we don't know if surgery is an option," he said. What are the steps we can take to get him back and healthy?

Ball had a procedure for a torn knee in July of last year and returned for the start of training camp with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his first season in Chicago, he is averaging 13 points, 5.4 rebound and 5.1 assists.
