According to sources, Kendal Briles has reached a new deal to remain as Arkansas' offensive coordinator after being pursued for the same job at Miami.
Arkansas was able to keep Briles because he's been with Sam Pittman the last two seasons. The Razorbacks won nine games and led the SEC in rushing last year.
Briles will have another season with Jefferson, who was in his first year as the full-time starter. Jefferson finished sixth in the SEC in total offense with 3,340 yards and was 10th nationally in passer rating with 21 touchdown passes. Jefferson had six touchdown runs.
Arkansas averaged 391.5 yards of total offense in Briles' first season as offensive coordinator, more than 50 yards more than the previous year. The number of yards per game was increased by the Razorbacks to rank 28th nationally.
Briles, who was a finalist for the Broyles Award in 2015, has been an assistant coach at Florida State, Houston, Florida Atlantic and Baylor.
