4,300. In addition to nearly 6,000 unruly passenger reports, the FAA received over a hundred mask-related incidents in the year.
There is a key background.

The travel industry was one of the worst hit during the Pandemic and as passengers return to the skies they have faced a string of new restrictions designed to stop the spread of coronaviruses. The FAA recorded over 6,000 incidents of aggressive behavior last year, as well as dozens of attacks against its staff, which officials blame on passengers refusing to wear masks. The FAA opened more than a thousand investigations into unruly passengers last year.
Ten passengers were fined by the FAA for unruly behavior last year, including spitting, screaming and punching a flight attendant. The fines were proposed for passengers accused of bad behavior.

The Airline Trade Body says that airplane passengers are twice as likely to catch Covid-19.

The rise in unruly passengers is a problem for airlines and agents.

FAA numbers show that 2021 was bad for bad behavior in the skies.
