You can save up to $36 a year with the new annual plans if you are a new or existing user of YouTube Premium and Music Premium, which let you watch and listen ad-free. Users can receive an extra discount with the promo rate, but the new annual plans cost less than the current monthly rate.
The new annual plan for YouTube Premium is currently selling for $107.99, which is roughly $36 less than you would pay for a year at its current monthly price.
After Sunday, the annual rate will be $119.88, which is nearly $30 cheaper than the monthly rate.
Users are still able to sign up for a month-to-month subscription for the same price as before. Both services offer a 7-day free trial period for new users.
If you are grandfathered in to an earlier, cheaper plan, the annual subscription might not make sense. If you still have the old $7.99 plan, you would be paying 11 cents more for an annual plan if you are currently paying $9.99 a month for YouTube Music.
You have to pay upfront for either service with an annual plan, and it won't automatically renew at the end of the year. Existing users on monthly subscriptions have to cancel their current plan before they can purchase the annual service, and it is not available for family and student plans. The plans are only available in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Germany, Thailand, India and Japan.
