The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Magic 123-110 on Wednesday night, thanks to a career-high 50 points by Joel Embiid in 27 minutes.

He made 17 of 23 field goals and 15 of 17 free throws. The four-time All-Star played 58 seconds in the fourth quarter.

"My teammates found me," he said. I did the rest.

The second-fewest minutes played in a 50-point game in the shot-clock era were by Embiid. Klay Thompson had 52 points for the Golden State Warriors.

The 76ers have won nine of 11. Philadelphia is 212 games out of the top spot in the East.

Mo Bamba set career highs with 32 points and seven 3-pointers. The rebuilding Magic dropped to an NBA-worst 8-38 with their third straight loss and 13th defeat in the last 14 games.

Philadelphia was booed off the court at halftime. The 76ers came out determined after the break, using a 17-6 run to jump in front, 64-63. During the spurt, Tyrese Maxey drained a pair of 3-pointers.

Before the game, the 76ers coach was asked about potential additions to the roster with the NBA trade deadline approaching, and he was upfront and honest. His best player went out and showed any potential new teammates what he could do.

"You need to have good players in the playoffs," Rivers said. You need guys who can make plays for themselves. The better team you have, the better chance you have.

He took care of that on his own. He scored in a variety of ways in the third quarter, just like he did in the first. He was serenaded with a song. The fans roared when he made a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left in the quarter that gave Philadelphia its largest lead to that point, 92-80.

It gave him 47 points for the game and 23 in the third quarter alone, in which he shot 8 of 10. The star center opened the contest by draining 8 of 10 shots in the first quarter as the 76ers took a 25-21 lead.

I don't know if I've seen that, I played with Dominque. Dominque scored more, but it took the whole game. "That was easy, quick, efficient and determined."

Jesse Mermuys, who is filling in for Jamahl Mosley, agreed.

"With the way he was playing, there was no way to get him," Mermuys said. He hit fadeaways and stepbacks.

After coming back in the fourth, he scored 49 points with a pair of free throws 15 seconds later. Then, Mamba was ejected from the game after committing a foul on the play. He made the first of his two free throws to get to 50 points, but missed the second as the crowd stood and recorded the moment. He was quickly taken out by Coach Doc Rivers.

It's all about playing the right way. "The ball is always going to find me," he said. The guys have a lot of trust in me, and they always look for me.

It doesn't matter when. The ball is going to find me.

The rest of the 76ers combined for just five points on 2-for-11 shooting in the first quarter. It caught up to them in the second quarter. After the Magic closed within 38-37, Embiid went to the bench with three fouls and the Magic went on to win.

It was a great performance by him. Mermuys said you have to tip your hat. There are great players in this league.

Bamba finished with 28 points and made 7 of 8 3-pointers in the first half, bettering his previous career highs in scoring and making 3-pointers.

In the end, the night belonged to Embiid.

"From the beginning, he was amazing," Rivers said.
