Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield has shoulder surgery, eyes return to 'my true self'

After undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder, Baker Mayfield says he is on track to get back to his true self.

The doctor who performed the surgery on the left shoulder was from the Anaheim Ducks.

The surgery went well. In a video posted to social media, Mayfield said that it was a complete success. It's on to the road to recovery. It is one of the steps to get back to my true self. This isn't the end of my story.

Thanks to Dr. Limpisvasti and his team. I'm excited to get healthy and back to normal. Thank you and God bless.

The time period for his recovery is four to six months. He will have physical therapy on his shoulder next week and is expected to be ready for training camp if not sooner.

The team said that the quarterback will be able to participate in the off-season program on a limited basis after he starts light throwing in April.

After the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he admitted that he was pretty beat up.

The Cleveland Indians were eliminated from playoff contention before their season finale against Cincinnati.

Even though he finished 27th in the league in QBR, Andrew Berry declared last week that the Cleveland general manager fully expects the No. 1 draft pick to be their starting quarterback in 2022.

The final year of his contract will pay him close to $19 million, after the Browns exercised their fifth-year option.
