NY Attorney General takes legal action to force Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump to answer subpoenas in an investigation into their company's financial dealings

Donald Trump and his children were issued subpoenas by the New York Attorney General.
James announced in a press release that she is taking legal action to compel the trio to appear for sworn testimony as part of her office's probe into the Trump Organization's financial dealings.
The motion to compel the three to answer the subpoena was filed on Tuesday. A court order to force the Trumps to produce documents related to the investigation held by the former president is part of the motion.

James said in the press release that the Trump Organization has used delay tactics and litigation to try and stop a legitimate investigation into its financial dealings.

She said that the investigation has uncovered evidence that suggests the Trump Organization misrepresented their assets to get economic benefits.
James said that no one in this country can pick and choose if the law applies to them.

Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Ivanka Trump have all been involved in the transactions in question, so we won't tolerate their attempts to evade testifying in this investigation. We will not be deterred in our efforts to uncover the facts and pursue justice even if Mr. Trump and his family try to stop us. No one is above the law.

James is investigating the Trump real estate company for fraud, specifically on the issue of whether the Trump organization inflated or deflated the value of their properties for loan and tax purposes.
At his rally in Arizona on Saturday, Trump claimed that he didn't know who James was, but he filed a lawsuit against her last month accusing her of trying to "harass" him with investigations.

The subpoenas were issued to Donald Trump Jr.

Eric Trump, one of the president's sons and an executive vice president of the Trump Organization, baselessly claimed that the investigation is unconstitutional in an interview with Sean Hannity.
