After the Cowboys' loss to the 49ers in the Wild Card round, quarterback Dak Prescott apologized for his comments. Fans threw debris at the refs as they came off the field.

I regret the comments I made about the officials after the game. I was caught up in the emotion of the disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for.

He said that he respected the professionalism of the officials and that he held them in the highest regard. Everyone who attends a game or participates on the field of a sporting event should be safe.

He apologized, "That was a mistake on my part, and I am sorry."

Dallas' 23-17 loss featured some controversial calls by the officials. When asked about it in his press conference, he initially criticized the fans because he thought they were throwing things at Cowboys players. When they were told that they were aiming for the referees, they responded with "credit to them, then."

His comments came under fire. The NBA referees' association condemned his comments for promoting violence against officials. We want the NFL to take action to discourage this behavior in the future.

The Cowboys were unable to get a play off before time expired, as a referee took a moment to get the ball spotted. Dallas was driving down the field for a potential game-winning touchdown. The Cowboys were called for 14 penalties in the game, which added to the frustration of the officials.
